incredible Desmond came to us as a stray in March 2013 which is way toooooo long to wait for a loving home. He knows some commands: sit, down & roll over and is housetrained. We guesstimate he was born about Oct. 2011.
He shares a kennel with a senior F dog, Macy Ray, and they have a great time running in the play yard. He is very considerate of Macy and always lets her go first from the kennel.
When we arrive, he will occasionally, softly "woof, woof" to let us know that he would really like to go out to potty and I think he pretty much holds it until he can go (and in all fairness, sometimes they have to wait for quite a long time). Once he is back in his kennel, he will softly, "woof, woof" until he is fed and then he is pretty quiet the rest of the time.
All of the shelter volunteers think he is an amazing dog and many visitors think the same, but so far there have been no takers. Yesterday, while he was in the office, I learned Desmond was adopted once and did very well, but the wife was uncomfortable around him because of his breed and he had to come back. They had other smaller dogs and Desmond did just fine with them.
He was fine in the office w/ the cats until a cat named Nero took a hissing swipe at him (4-12-14), and all was not so calm. Until then he was just curious but did not bother much w/ even considering the cats.
He tested neg. for heartworm.
