Someone once told me that Hummels are something people actually collect and cherish - something that usually tries to depict a childhood joy and innocence. I'd like to think that someone will one day cherish me and appreciate my child-like love of life, but after having been here at the shelter since November of 2009, I'm beginning to wonder if I'm just some "dime-a-dozen-dog."
I ended up here after a lady found me wandering around and took me home, but then she decided I was a bit too much for her toddler (I never hurt anyone - I was just too energetic for them). What did they expect from a young fellow like me? I'm only about 1-1/2-years old, so I still have a lot of life left in me!
Since I arrived, everyone seems to wonder just what type of a dog I am. I keep hearing folks mention "some kind of a Setter mix or maybe a Weimaraner/Border Collie mix," but they really don't say it with much conviction so I could be just about anything I guess! All I know is that I'd love to dazzle you with my piercing eyes if you'd just look deeply into them for a minute or two.
I've spent my days here hanging out with a lot of different dogs in the play fields and I've gotten along with everyone. Heck, I've never really met anyone I didn't like! I share my kennel with a girl dog and I'm happy to let her boss me around (but please don't tell the other guys around here!). I need a little bit of leash training, but that's because I'm "a man with a plan" - I've got places to go and pups to see, so I pull a little bit as I hurry along. I'm super-smart, so with a little bit of obedience training, I'd probably be a GREAT walking companion.
And unlike the Hummels that just sit on your shelf collecting dust, I'm happy to either sit by your side, head out for a hike, or whatever else your heart might fancy. Plus - I won't cost a small fortune to acquire. My adoption fee is only $85 and I'll arrive fully-vetted and ready to please you! In fact, I've already been neutered and I'm heartworm negative so I'm ready to hit the road whenever you get here. If you just give me a chance, I promise to cherish you for the rest of my doggy days......
